BLIND PEER REVIEW AND EVALUATION PROCESS

Blind peer review is a method applied to ensure the highest quality of scientific publications. This method forms the basis of the objective evaluation process of scientific studies and is preferred by many scientific journals. The European Journal of Social Sciences Archive evaluates all submitted studies through blind peer review according to the stages outlined below.

Blind Peer Review Type:

The European Journal of Social Sciences Archive uses the double-blind review method in the evaluation process of all studies. In the double-blind method, the identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential.

Initial Evaluation Process:

Submitted studies to the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive are initially evaluated by the editors. At this stage, studies that do not comply with the aims and scope of the journal, are weak in terms of language and expression rules in Turkish and English, contain critical scientific errors, lack originality, and do not meet publication policies are rejected. Authors of rejected studies are informed within one month at the latest from the submission date. Suitable studies are sent for preliminary evaluation to an area editor specializing in the field of the study.

Preliminary Evaluation Process:

In the preliminary evaluation process, area editors examine the introduction and literature review, methodology, findings, conclusions, evaluation, and discussion sections of the studies in detail in terms of the journal's publication policies and scope and originality. Studies found unsuitable are returned with an evaluation report by the area editor within four weeks at the latest. Suitable studies are then included in the peer review process.

Peer Review Process:

Studies are peer-reviewed according to their content and the expertise of the reviewers. The area editor reviewing the study suggests at least two reviewers from the pool of experts in the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive or may suggest new reviewers suitable for the field of the study. The reviewer recommendations from the area editor are evaluated by the editors, and the studies are forwarded to the reviewers by the editors. Reviewers are required to guarantee that they will not share any process or document regarding the evaluation of the studies.

Peer Review Reports:

Peer evaluations are generally based on the originality of the studies, the methodology used, compliance with ethical rules, consistency in presenting findings and conclusions, and examination of the literature. This review includes opinions on the following aspects:

Introduction and literature: The evaluation report includes views on the presentation of the problem addressed in the study and its objectives, the importance of the subject, the scope, currency, and originality of the literature on the subject.

Method: The evaluation report includes views on the suitability of the method used, the selection and characteristics of the research group, validity and reliability information, as well as data collection and analysis process.

Findings: The evaluation report includes views on the presentation of findings obtained within the framework of the method, the accuracy of the analysis methods, the consistency of the findings achieved with the objectives of the research, the presentation of necessary tables, figures, and visuals, and opinions on the conceptual evaluation of the tests used.

Evaluation and discussion: The evaluation report includes views on the discussion of the subject based on the findings, conformity with the research questions/hypotheses, generalizability and applicability, and opinions on contributions to the literature and future studies in the field.

Conclusion and recommendations: The evaluation report includes opinions on contributions to the literature, recommendations for future studies, and applications in the field.

Style and expression: The evaluation report includes views on whether the content of the study covers the title, the correct use of Turkish, the compliance of references and citations with the examples under the Journal publication principles.

General evaluation: The evaluation report includes views on the originality of the study as a whole and its contribution to the literature and applications in the field.

During the evaluation process, reviewers are not expected to make corrections based on typographic features of the study.

Peer Evaluation Process:

The time given to reviewers for the peer review process is 3 weeks. Authors are required to complete the corrections requested by reviewers or expert editorial board members within 3 weeks. Reviewers may decide on the suitability of a study for publication after reviewing the corrections made, or if necessary, may request corrections multiple times.

Evaluation Result:

Opinions from reviewers are reviewed by the area editor within two (2) weeks at the latest. Based on this review, the area editor informs the editors of the final decision regarding the study.

Editorial Board Decision:

Based on the opinions of editors, area editors, and reviewers, the editorial board prepares views on the publication of the study. The prepared opinions, along with the area editor and reviewer recommendations, are communicated to the author(s) by the editor within one week at the latest. During this process, studies with negative opinions are returned without requesting plagiarism check. For studies with positive opinions, the final decision is made based on the results of the plagiarism check.

Publication Evaluation Process:

The European Journal of Social Sciences Archive aims to complete the publication evaluation process of submitted studies within approximately 3 months. However, the period between the date when reviewers or editors request corrections from the authors and the date when the authors complete the corrections is not included in this 3-month period.

Appeal Against the Evaluation Result:

Authors have the right to appeal the evaluation result in the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive. Authors should submit their objections regarding the opinions and comments on their studies in a scientific language with references to "mehmet.cakici@neu.edu.tr" by e-mail. Objections are reviewed by the editors within one month at the latest (Opinions may be requested regarding objections to the reviewers of the study). If the objections of the authors are found to be positive, the editorial board initiates the evaluation process again by appointing new reviewers appropriate to the subject area of the study.

Citation and Reference Check: According to the publication ethics of the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive, it is mandatory to provide correct and complete citations in articles. Authors should ensure that they write entirely original works, and if authors have used the works and/or words of others, they should ensure that this is appropriately cited or quoted. This check is made by reviewers during the evaluation process and then by the editors based on the similarity-plagiarism (iThenticate) program result. All studies are also checked for plagiarism via the intihal.net platform.

Early Appearance and Publication of the Article:

Articles with page layout done in the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive are published electronically under the title "Early Appearance" with a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). Minor edits may be made to articles in early appearance when published in the journal. Articles in early appearance are published in the journal with the "EARLY APPEARANCE" watermark removed in the volume and issue determined by the Editorial Board. After the electronic journal is published, the printed version of the European Journal of Social Sciences Archive, including the same articles within the same month, is also published.
